Over the Rim

I decided to write this while I still could, and before I didn’t.

In the early 1980’s I got a job offer from the Federal Government. I could not refuse.

The job: come to Grand Canyon National Park for six months to study what backcountry hikers thought about all the aircraft circling overhead.

I jumped at the chance. Little did I know what I was getting myself into!

Some of the recollections, after almost forty years, are a just a bit fuzzy. Some of the stories are not entirely in order. Names were never my strong suit, and were modified freely. But the stories are real, or as real as my memories allow.

This book is dedicated to my beloved parents, who loved, supported, and encouraged me all my life – even when it was not easy.
